Perfect for lefties(15/01/2010)
As a leftie shooter I love it as it enables you to drop the magazine while still retaining fire controls with your shooting hand.
Nice Feature for Left-handed Shooters(14/05/2010)
This is the first accessory I added to my left-handed Stag 2T-L. Install was simple using the Ambi-Catch Tool (sold separately), took less than five minutes. Make sure you install it flush with the center of the mag release button.
Great For All; Necessity For Lefties(06/06/2010)
I purchased this along with the install tool (also by Norgon). That makes installation a quick, easy task. (You'll be done in a few minutes.) The function of the ambi-catch is easy and reliable. The ridged actuation surface is just big enough (and stands just proud enough) to make the function of the ambi-catch easy and reliable, without any concern of dropping the mag by accident due to an errant bump. (Due to the asymmetric pivot point, one needs to use deliberate pressure on the ridged surface to drop the mag.) If you add this along with an ambidextrous safety, it makes your rifle ready for lefty use, as well as weak-side drills by righties. The only criticism I have is the very high price. The part is top quality, though, so if you want true ambidextrous functioning on your rifle, buy it. You won't regret it.
Great Product of Leftys(09/08/2010)
Easy to install. Easy to operate. Awesome.
Pefect product for a lefty. Easy install(23/09/2010)
VERY easy to install. Fits great. Feels great. And feels very sturdy. Even with larger hands, it's easy to find, feel, and use the left side mag release. Seems a bit expensive for such a small part, but I really wanted it to make my AR easier to use as a lefty. It's a perfect product, you decide on whether it's worth it..
Absolutely love it!(22/05/2011)
It's even closer for us lefties than what Stoner left you righties. Would also recommend to you right handed tactical guys too. Another button on the black gun in under 30 seconds, priceless.
Quality product.(10/06/2011)
This is a stout little piece, a must have for lefties. The price seems to be a bit much for what it is but take the chance it's well worth it.
Best accessory ever bought (Ar-15)(03/12/2011)
LOVE THIS RELEASE. I have over 14 years Law Enforcement/Military and have shot a lot of rounds through a Ar-15/M-16 as a left handed operator. This is by far the best accessory I have bought for an Ar-15 EVER! It's very ergonomic and increases you speed and efficiency of movement when preforming a mag change as a left handed shooter. The design keeps the effort to push the button to a minimum and you're not trying to fight it to get it pushed in, but you still has a positive release. Unlike some of the "Ambi" Mag releases out there it does the job BUT maintains a low profile, there are no levers or buttons protruding from it to snag on clothing or other gear.
Does the Job, easy install(27/12/2011)
Great little product, and solidly put together, hence the high price tag. Norgon did it right the first time, if you need a lefty mag drop and it needs to work EVERY-TIME, then don't hesitate on buying this part.
Outstanding product(22/03/2012)
The Canadian Army has this on all C7A2's, now if they can only come up with a decent ambi charging latch.
Amazing product(31/05/2012)
I Held back this purchase due to the price for a few months until i finally gave in. Now i wished i had gotten it sooner! This catch is a definite must have for a leftie. It just makes speed reloads that much smoother.
Awesome Accessory(18/09/2012)
This ambi catch may not be cheap but it is worth every penny. It's built very well, easy to install and doesn't interfere with any other function of the rifle. A must have for the left handed AR15 shooter.
Ambi-catch fis and works(02/11/2012)
This Ambi-catch fits well and is easy to install. The release is easily pushed with the left hand's pointer finger while still gripping the weapon. The standard release on the right side is retained and its function is not diminished. I no longer need to roll the rifle over to change mags. This has resulted in a significant time improvement. Much recommended for the left handed AR shooter.
Works as advertised(26/02/2013)
I have no complaints. It installed easily on my Seekins billet lower and works flawlessly. You get what you pay for.
This is my second one(23/11/2013)
These work well, almost zero chance of accidental activation. I say that only because stranger things have happened. Its 99% fail safe. Will fit on anything that I know of. Even lowers with deeper wells.(Seekins precision and black rain lowers) Take your mag out with one hand, thumb the button finger grab the mag
Oldie but goodie(14/01/2014)
I've been using these for some time now and I have to say they are still my favorite ambidextrous magazine catch. Can be disassembled to clean if desired. The newest finish is deep black and looks really nice. The release is directly opposite of the standard mag release button which is the way it should be. Low profile so you don't inadvertently drop a mag while the firearm is slung cross body. Some complain that it's hard to find because the release pad is small. Train train train and this will not be a problem.
BEST MAG CATCH EVER!(26/06/2014)
I held off for a long time getting the Norgon AMBI-CATCH. Now that I got it I am very pleased and impressed. A quality product from a quality company. Don't let the price hold you back. You will be impressed. I plan on getting another one. It was easy to install except that I had to remove my MAGPUL ambi bolt catch lever. Cannot turn the old mag catch out and install the Norgon with it on the rifle. It installed just like the easily read instructions stated. Holds the fully loaded mags with not problems. A friend who is familiar with the AR but does not know about the AMBI-CATCH was amazed that I was pulling the mags without touching the original release. He's impressed. I've owned this Bushmaster Reciever AR15A1 for 24 years. I built it with a complete Colt A1 upper and have added parts to it over the years. In its original military guise it was and is still a sweet shooter. Everything I've done to it has only made it better to me. If you choose this product for your AR rest assured that you are making a fine weapon only better.
Truly Ambidextrous(06/11/2015)
I can't say enough about this catch. I'm looking at it right now to order my 3rd one. Regardless of whether you are right or wrong handed (being a lefty, I can make that joke), this tiny little item makes your entire AR world significantly more flexible. The similarity of operation from either side using this product is unlike any other I have tried.
Whether you are performing tactical mag exchanges with your off hand while keeping you trigger finger ready to fire, or you're doing a more classic style of shooting with your offhand laced up into a sling and using the firing hand to reload. This seemingly insignificant piece of equipment allows people of both sides practice and perform both methods without any further modifications to the rifle. The value of that alone makes this product worth so much more than it's price tag.
The only complaint I could possibly have about this product, is that it now makes me want a better slide stop/release for both hands.
Nice Addition for Lefties(14/02/2016)
I'll start by saying that I gave this 4 out of 5 stars only because I found this mag release to be a little stiff. Based upon my experience (as a left handed shooter) in conducting tac-mag changes under stress I know that a shooter needs to rely upon their equipment to work 99% of the time during the first attempt. What I found with this ambi-mag release was that the left side release would require quite a bit of effort to depress in order to release the magazine causing me to actually take more time conducting my mag change than if I hit the right side release. Additionally, I found that fully loaded or partially loaded magazines (P-mags) were much harder to remove using the ambi-button than empty mags. With that being said, I do love this upgrade to my AR and would recommend it to others as with practice I'm sure I'll be much more proficient at getting first time success with releasing my magazine utilizing this product.
Do not use if using kit and right handed(06/11/2017)
Do not use this if you are right handed and using kit. While wearing kit this consistently released my magazine from bumping againts my kit. Constantly. I switched back.
Did not fit 2 different lowers.(03/02/2018)
Well I really wanted to like this. Unfortunately, it did not fit in a BCM or Aero lower. It fit in a spikes lower though.
The pressure required to release a mag is too low. Slightly bump the button on your gear or whatever and bye bye magazine.
Perhaps this was the best solution for an ambi catch ages ago, but not anymore. Machining seems to be pretty decent at least.
Quality part that just works!(17/09/2018)
This part is great quality! It works and just blends in like it its a factory part which I like. I've been running one for 3-4 years now with zero problems. Its on a PSA lower that I run magpul gen3 pmags on.
