As good as it gets.(23/11/2009)
I bought this sight for my Marlin model 1895 rifle, (back when Marlin made their lever action rifles pre-drilled & tapped for this sight.) I have used it for over 20 years and cannot think of a way to improve on it. When I take the top assembly off and store it, (for those few times I used a scope,) the "base" stayed in place. When I put the upper assembly back on I was back "on" zero too. This never failed. Adjustments are easy and after hundreds (thousands?) of rounds and fierce recoil ("sooped-up" 45/70) they've never moved. Now Marlin rifles are not set-up for this fine sight but it would certainly be worth the work.
Older ones are great(26/12/2009)
When they were made out of steel, they were great. I bought one about a year ago and it is made of aluminum. I have had to squeeze the slotted aperture rail and peen the elevation rails to tighten it up. Lyman go back to steel!!!
