Great tool(18/11/2011)
I think this is a great tool for disassembling my shotguns. It's a great tool and so far durability has been good. I don't think there's anything wrong with it.
#3 roll pin punch(03/03/2014)
Received in expected time and packaged well. Would use this vender again. Thanks:Bill
Piece of junk(07/05/2013)
Breaks at the base of the punch when trying to tap out a gas tube pin with a 4 oz hammer.
break(09/08/2010)
i have so many problems with these breaking if i even tap on some of them they just break. where the handle meets the thin peice right in the middle they break so easly. i cant work on anything with them because of it. they need to be made stronger more durible to withstand a brass hammer
Not sure(24/05/2012)
I had a stuck (or so I though) ejector pin. I broke this thing on the 1st couple taps with the 8oz ball peen. Seemed a little big. Picked up another punch (seemed big also) from a local store and it bent and I bent it back. The compact form is excellent for working on your AR platform. I'll get another, but will use my 4oz ball peen next time.
Not very good(18/08/2012)
As stated in previous reviews, do not use a large hammer. The punch will easily break.
Fragile(17/07/2014)
Broke when using a 2oz brass hammer at the same place as other as described - just below the handle.
love the punches(15/09/2009)
I used this punch kit to build the 5 AR lowers i have. they really stick to the roll pins. you can't go wrong buying the kit. you can use the big punches on an 870 to take the trigger assemly out for cleaning. Be carefull you can scratch your lower with it. i like to put electrical tape around the areas that could get scratched.
I am currently in the Air Guard and i have on occasion let the firearms mechanics on base use them. they really like them. they are alot better to use than the regular flat punches they have to use.
Can't go wrong buying the kit(15/09/2009)
i have used these punches to build Ar Lowers and replace parts on some of my friends firearms. a really good deal so buy the kit.
Fantastic(03/10/2009)
I purchased these set of seven because I needed to change out some parts on my M-4. The tools are durable and I'd highly recommend them to anyone wishing to do work on their AR without having to pay big money for a gunsmith/armorer to do it for them.
Good value(17/10/2009)
Good, durable product for the money, a good value for the price. [...]
Nice set(20/11/2009)
purchased to remove the pins on AR's and 1911's, found they will also work well on shotguns and m1a1.
Good value, very useful for roll pins.(09/02/2010)
For the money, a very useful set although I rarely use the largest sizes.
#1 and 2 can get damaged in the course of normal use due to their small size, perhaps the roll pin holders would help. I plan to order those next. You might want to order extras of these two smallest punches.
Great tool(31/03/2010)
These punches are pretty specialized, but I love to use the tool that's right for the job and these are definitely great tools for roll pins. I bought them just a few months ago so I can't say anything about the durability, but they seem to be more than adequate for the job they are intended for. They make it way easier to work with roll pins without slipping, which of course also makes you feel much more comfortable when working on a nicely finished gun.
The only thing I find negative about this set is the somewhat limited selection. You find roll pins of various sizes in many applications (cars, appliances, machines in general), so I would be more than happy to pay more for a better assortment, including metric sizes. Still, these punches are obviously pretty darn good tools, as I want more of them.
The Right set of Punches(10/04/2010)
I just finished my first AR build and this set of pin punches made my job a whole lot easier. I used these in combination with the Brownell's Roll Pin Holder set and the "shorty" roll pin punch set. Needless to say I had the right punch and holder for every pin on my AR. There is a lot to be said for having the right tool for the job. Would most definitely recommend this product.
Disappointing(02/06/2011)
These were not a useful purchase. I would have rated them lower, but they are unique. Mine are completely non-heat treated and too soft meaning they bend with the slightest impact. I found NO BENEFIT in using them with roll pins as far as damaging the pins and their only useful role is in holding the pin in difficult locations.
Roll pin BENT...(15/09/2011)
I Bent the #3 roll pin. They are not the strongest. I would buy the stainless. The Design and machine work is great. But the steel is poor.
Excellent Set(22/12/2011)
Just finished using these on an AR upgrade to my BCM. They worked perfectly. When I received them I noticed the #1 punch had a slight bend to it. I am unable to bend it back (pretty solid steel). It doesn't affect its ability to do the job. All of these are necessary for AR repairs and upgrades.
Poor quality control.(14/01/2012)
Received the set of 7 punches and 2 of them (#2 5/64 & #4 1/8) were bent.
These Do the Job For Me(09/04/2012)
After struggling to install small roll pins without these punches, these combined with the Brownells roll pin holdersare a blessing. I had the worst time installing AR15 forward assist roll pins using my tools on hand including centering punches, regular punches, and padded pliers. I got it done, but scuffed two uppers in the process. These roll pin punches, along with the Brownells roll pin holders made such fast and nice work of the job that it was almost anti-climactic. I haven't had to use much force to install any roll pins, so I haven't tested the limits of the bending strength of these.
