The UltraMag is the heavy duty workhorse of the Redding line, and is a no-nonsense high quality press. It is our favorite for large jobs and highly recommend it for the reloader needing a large frame press. The leverage system on this press (unlike most others) is connected to the top of the press frame which gives it literally tons of pressure without the usual concerns of press frame deflection or misalignment. This is an expensive press, but one we feel is worth the money, especially for long magnum cartridges.

Mean, Green, Reloadin' Machine(19/07/2010)
When Redding built this press they were thinking of good old American brute force. This single stage press is about 40 lbs of steel and made to be a legend. It has an extra long ram stoke for cartridges like the H&H family, the Rigby's, Weatherby magnums, and of coarse the Ultra Mag's with room to spare. Be sure the case is all the way in the holder though, this press can crush a misaligned piece of brass. Also periodically remove, clean and re-lube the ram to keep it smooth (do be sure to put the ram back in place after re-lubing, but that goes without saying). With proper maintenance this press should last at least a lifetime.
It will grow on you(26/01/2011)
I am sort of a Perfectionist, so ordered this one. Before that one, I was using RCBS Rock Chucker for almost 15 years. It scared me when I picked it up and opened the box. Honestly, this one is more than most people need, but if you go for it, this will be your last press. There's absolutely no play whatsoever and that's a bit unusual in the beginning, but in the end you get used to it and like it more and more.
Fantastic Press(21/03/2011)
This is by far the best press to resize 223 brass. I have a Dillon 550 but it just doesnt work because of the offset position of the ram and die. The brass keeps getting stuck in the die. The Ultramag makes resizing bulge brass a breeze. Just make sure to case gage the brass before resizing and eliminate brass that does not fit into the gage.
Wonderful press for the .338 Lapua Mag(20/12/2011)
The Ultramag has tremendous leverage to re-size long .338 Lapua Magnum cases. Unlike standard presses there is lots of room to place the bullet in the case mouth for seating.
Having previously used a Dillon 550 and a Redding T-7 for the .338 LM, this press handles long magnums exceptionally well.
Great for large magnums(10/09/2014)
I use this press for .338 LM and .30-.378Wby Mag and this press handles both easily. I use long 300 grain Berger bullets and I still have plenty of room. I like that the primers are captured in the tube. The fit of this machine is impressive. You do have to be careful because of the power that this press will exert. I bent a decapping rod and didn't even realize it!
Unergonomic(04/05/2015)
Built extremely well but the linkage is too close to the ram/die. You will constantly hit your fingers/ knuckles on the linkage when adding/removing cases and running bullets up into the seater die. Would only use this for what will not fit in the big boss.
This is the one to buy!(05/12/2015)
I just got my press and I started with the .338 Lapula. It has such great leverage that full-length sizing is a joy. It does cost more but it is completely worth it. I have used a number of presses and this is by far the best. I really have no "cons." Treat youself to a truly great product. You will not be sorry.
Great(23/02/2017)
Great press sizing brass is a lot easier than with the rock chucker and reloading longer ammo like the 45-70 338 norma mag is a lot easier with the open front.
It's a beast!(23/12/2017)
I have loved all of the products I've purchased from Redding so far. This press is smooth and tough as nails. Monster leverage. Brownells has become my first stop for ordering. Almost always the best price, and super fast, inexpensive shipping! I'm a little depressed that I received the ONE press out of probably a thousand, that has a flaw in the casting. Chunk missing out of the top. It's enough to send a guy with OCD to the psych ward.
