Nice Extension(30/09/2009)
Well made extension, I have used a few and they are all reliable. Good for the money.
Best extention on the market(08/11/2009)
Great piece of gear. Fits and functions prefect on my 1100.
Much more robust than the other cheaper tubes out there.
Only reason I didn't give it a 5 is that you cannot remove the sling loop if you want too.
Very nice, not that great to install(17/11/2009)
Very nice product, much better than the cheap junk that Remington installs.
When I tried to install my extension, the channel that the sling loop rotates in was so loaded with parkerizing material that I had to spend half a hour working CLP into the channel to the point that it would actually rotate all the way around the tube.
Great Product(10/09/2010)
This is far superior to the cheaper brand available for the same price. The material is robust and it attaches very securely. It is parkerized so I recommend coating with oil. I sprayed mine with CLP and let it sit overnight prior to installation. Fit and function have been flawless so far. The spring and follower are excellent. This is a great product for HD, working, or 3 Gun shotguns. I also recommend if you put this on a 870 Express (after your remove the dimple) you install a detent and spring. The parts and tool available here at Brownells. Opening the box will take longer than the installation and then the mag tube extension will be rock solid with no chance of backing off..
Great for my HD 870(22/09/2010)
Slowly turning my 870 Express into a excellent HD weapon. My only issue is that the finish doesn't match, but that was to be expected.
THE BEST CHOICE......(28/10/2010)
As a first man of the line inside the slums of Rio de Janeiro, its a better upgrade to do in your shotgun, works fine inside cars, doing search and prision warrants and still handle to carry. Also, the piece itself fits so perfect in my 870 express magnum that i did it in less than 2 minutes after dinner. EASY, STRONG METAL and SOLID shotgun at the end. Thanks for all
The tube to get!(03/07/2011)
Bought this for a 870 project gun. Started looking for tubes and this one was by far the best value you are going to get for your money. Its a strong welded design that is far superior to a Remington tube and is pretty much the same as a Vang Comp without the high pricetag. It is quality through and through and doesn't need a clamp. Fit, finish, and quality makes it a easy choice.
Solid!(12/09/2011)
Easy to install and rock solid.
Awesome mag extension!!!(20/02/2012)
If your looking for an affordable top of the line extension, that is virtually indestructible this is the one to buy. I've seen many other extensions bend, split or separate when in hard use, or even worse the springs lose strength, but not this one. This extension is really built for combat, you can hit this thing with a hammer and it won't budge. But you really can't expect any less from Wilson Combat. This is money well spent if you depend on your shotgun to perform every time when things get rough, if you know what I mean.
Excellent Product(20/11/2012)
This mag extension is fantastic! Rock solid construction that you won't find from other brands. The only thing negative, and its not a reflection on this product, is that you will have to remove the detents on the end of the factory mag tube. This can done with a really expensive tool from brownells, or you can file it down with a dremel tool. I had heard that if you take too much metal off, that you'll end up cutting a hole in the tube. I ended up taking a 16mm socket and tapped it through the tube. This raised the dents up enough that I didn't have to grind but just a little bit of metal of with my dremel. Worked like a charm, and no hole in the tube. Hope this helps!
Heavy duty, excellent construction(31/10/2013)
This magazine extension is SOLID. It actually seems a bit sturdier than the shotgun itself, and that's saying something. After drilling out the dimples and then using a small file to remove the remaining bumps and rough edges, this went in perfectly. At first I thought they had sent the wrong spring because it is so long, but checking the Wilson Combat website revealed that this was intentional - it's an upgrade over the factory spring.
At first I thought it wasn't working right. I had just bought some Saf-T-Trainers as well and was using them to test the feeding of the magazine extension. I kept getting double feeds, and one time it even tried to feed three shells at once. I thought the spring was too strong. Once I switched to real shotgun shells, though, I had zero problems - so the problem is with the Saf-T-Trainers, not the magazine extension.
Really nice(13/01/2014)
This thing is built like a tank. Went right together.
Well built, easy install(25/07/2014)
Installed on a late model, Rem Express Tactical Synthetic (the one with the one piece, factory six round mag, no Ghost rings, no breacher extension. Passed the first test: made in U.S.A., install was only made difficult by having to modify the shotgun magazine tube. Functions as desired although an adjustment to the included, longer magazine spring may be required, but further break-in may eliminate the need.
This extension will add 4-5/16 inches to the length of the shotgun described herein. Yes, it looks quite funky, but I couldn't justify going with a single shell extension for close to the same money as the two shell model.
I like the follower much better than the factory one, much more solid and smoother.
The finish is nice, not a perfect match to the Remy but close enough for horse shoes... and shotguns. If I weren't so impressed overall, I was tempted to take at least one star off for the condition of this extension I received. It was down-right filthy, as if sprayed down with a heavy coat of oil, mistaken for an oily spot on a mechanic's floor and doused with a couple scoops of Sorb-all or kitty litter. Yes it was that gritty. The divets or detents around the end of the knurled portion were jammed with this grit and it was literally all over the inside and outside. Wilson or Scattergun orta be ashamed for letting something in this shape, out of their house. A good Saturday night bath in mineral spirits (literally) got it right with the Lord though.
As I awaited shipment of this extension, I was a bit apprehensive about the magazine tube having enough length and threads to support this part. Due to the factory six shot capacity and the placement of the barrel guide ring (my theory anyway). But once I began attaching the extension, the tolerance was so "tight?", it fit as if it were a factory part. I wasn't sure if the parts kit would include a wave washer, it did.
So, I'm quite pleased, and despite how dirty this thing was upon arrival, I'd still buy it again, and could with clear conscious, recommend it to a friend who wanted a bobble like this, WITH the warning of course, he better have the wash tub, brush and mineral spirits ready.
Fit for duty(25/12/2015)
I purchased this mag extention for my Remington 870 Police shotgun. I've used it for for over 5 years now, both on duty and during tactical firearms training with no problems to date. I would (and have) trusted my life with it. Don't settle for the cheaper brands of mag extensions. Get one that will last.
Built Like a Tank(04/11/2009)
Super sturdy and the parkerized finish matches a 870P very well. Downside, it is heavy. The spring and follower are well made.
Perfect(15/06/2012)
Excellent fit and finish. Fit my Norinco 870 like a glove. You might have to remove the crimps in the magazine tube on certain models, but thats easy. Spring didnt require trimming down at all and the hi-vis follower is great.
TAC-14 Now Has PLUS 1(09/10/2018)
I have used Scattergun Technologies Shotguns and parts professionally for over 20 years and I have yet to have any failures. Their accessories are well made and well engineered, with most being T&E's in the field during their development.
NOTE: You will need to remove the Mag Tube "Dimples" that Engineers added to the Express plastic mag spring cap design for dumb people who cannot handle compressed springs, (the old spring steel retainer in 870P worked just fine),
I used the XS SIGHT SYSTEMS p/n 006-000-119WB
Magazine Tube Detent Swage.. Just follow the instructions and use plenty of CLP or Lube Oil to help in the swaging process.
Now the Tac-14 has a capacity of 5+1, a upgraded magazine spring and follower and a front sling mount. I also added the G&GG side sling mount in front of the factory Shockwave pistol grip.
Well designed product.(02/06/2010)
This was installed on a Remington 870 HD shotgun. It fit and function is great. No issues at all. The spring is stronger than the stock one and the follower is first rate. The QD stud was loose when I got it but a quick email to Scattergun Technologies and the response was to tighten it or it can be removed. I tightened it down enough where it still could rotate. It is a strong design and doesn't need a clamp, which helps when breaking down the shotgun for cleaning. The only thing that I would change is the QD mounting plate would be nice if it was removable.
Fits H&R pardner pump(30/12/2011)
There are a couple of things to do to make this part work excellent on your pardner pump. First, remove your barrel, thread the extension on the magazine tube without spring and use a pipe wrench (I used a strap wrench so as to not mark up the knurling) and forcefully thread the extension on as far as you can. I found that the threads are a slight bit mismatched but you can force it enough to get a good tight fit without stripping threads. Second, remove the indents on each side of the magazine tube that are used to hold the plastic spring retainer in the end of the magazine. To remove the plastic retainer, you insert a flat blade screwdriver into the oblong hole in the end of the plastic retainer, push in approx. 1 inch and make a quarter turn. The spring should then push it all the way out. Use an 1/8 inch bit and drill two holes, side by side in the indents (2 because the indents are oblong), then round file the inside of the magazine to smooth out where the indents were. Lastly, crimp the new spring on the supplied follower, insert spring, barrel and extension and you're all done. I now can get 8, yes 8(eight) 2 3/4 inch shells in the magazine!
Well worth the money.(12/03/2012)
I went with the verticle sling mount with quick release swivel and put it on an 11-87SP with an 18.5 inch barrel. This first thing I noticed, even before beginning the install was that the extension was inside a separate plastic bag and covered in that dark brown packing grease that you find on new guns and their parts sometimes. Not a problem, just be ready with your favorite cleaning fluid before you begin. Next, as some reviewers of this part have mentioned, the sling swivel bracket did not swivel. A few gentle taps from a non-marring hammer took care of that. However, while freeing up the bracket the lock nut for the quick release sling swivel itself fell off. It was extremely loose before I started and I should have tightened it first. Again, not a problem, just a heads up. There is the possibility you may have to remove the dimples in the shotguns mag tube to get full capacity. I did, and I chose to completely drill them out. Other reviewers of this part have gone into detail on other methods. After taking care of all the prep work, the tube went on like buttah. It's about a half inch shorter than the barrel and the matt black finish is a very close match to the barrel. The tube itself is very heavy duty, well made and confidence inspiring. The included follower and spring are both excellent, and allowed me to get the expected 6 rounds into the tube. I'm very pleased with this part and highly recommend it.
Hefty not Flimzy-should hold up well(12/04/2012)
Installed on older Rem 870 Express in seconds. No mods needed. Have not shot it yet but cycles 7 3" shells flawlessly. Probably 8 with 2 3/4" (counting one in chamber). Fit is exceptional but finish had some small blemishes in the parkerized coating. Needed heavy degreasing and a light oiling out of the box. Doesn't quite match matte finish on Express but close enough. Like the QD swivel mount. Over-all very happy with product.
Tactical 870 Shotgun(26/09/2013)
I bought this 2 round mag tube after seeing my friends with their store bought tactical shotguns so I decided to make my own from the 870 Express I already owned. The tube fit perfectly and functions flawlessly. The matte finish matched the original 870 receiver's finish exactly. The new barrel is a bit blacker. I changed out the original 28" barrel to an 18" police barrel and the mag tube does not protrude past the end of the barrel any. I chose to add a barrel clamp/flashlight holder to my set up and it is a strong combination. The mag tube was secure without the clamp, but I wanted a flashlight on my gun so I went with the combo unit and I'm happy with the finished product. The bottom line to my story is the 2 round bottom swivel extension magazine tube by Scattergun Technologies is a great product.
Exactly what I was looking for(22/11/2014)
I have both a Mossberg 500A (happily mine has the correct magazine tube for this to work) as well as a Remington 870. Both are defensive shotguns and were both 4 round magazine tubes. This product gives me 5 rounds each as well as a high visibility follower. The lock washer provided does an adequate job keeping it tight. The stud is held on by a simple snap ring and is easily removed.
WORKS IF MODIFY GUN(19/06/2018)
You MUST remove dimples in mag tube. Would not have got if known. That should be in description. Worked after modified gun. Not fond of plastic nub on end and left with a hole if removed
Swivel stud, NOT QD!(30/06/2018)
Comes with a swivel stud that does not work with Magpul QD.
Great for Tac 14(15/07/2018)
Well made & fits the Tac 14 perfect with swivel stud removed.
Easy to install & to remove dimples on the newer Remington shotguns. Once installed it is flush to the barrel muzzle.
