SPECS : Acier, finition bleue mate ou acier inoxydable (s/s). .886" (22mm) de l'arrière du trou à la pointe. Disponible en Standard et Palmswell. S'adapte à la Série 70, peut être modifié pour s'adapter à la Série 80. Un rayon de .220° nécessite une modification du cadre.

I bought this grip safety and the installation jig. For my Springfield Armory 1911. I used my Dremel tool and a grinding wheel. I have never done anything like this before. I didn't realize the tag inside the package opened to revel instructions till after I finished installing it. I just did what seemed natural and it came out PERFECT! No fitting of the grip safety was needed. Very easy!

Very confortable! (16/02/2010)

This grip safey was fairly easy to install. Some people don't like to hand fit things, but I think it makes for a better fit sometimes! When istalling this part the .220 Jig from S&A is a must! The grip feels alot better than the standard grip safety on my mil-spec. It does give you a higher grip on the frame which helps with accuracy...and thats always good!!!

Very comfortable (11/01/2011)

I chose this part to replace the palmswell version with came with my Springfield loaded. The bump had a tendency to dig into my hand. I was hoping for a drop-in, but that was not the case; I had to dremel the inside slightly to fit it to the frame (I considered modifying the frame to be unacceptable), as well as file the groove for the hammer strut so that it would clear. It was not difficult, but did take patience. I was able to fit it to my pistol in about 1-2 hours, max. In the end it was worth it, the grip is far more comfortable and more aesthetically pleasing now than before. The internal lug which blocks the trigger worked just fine out of the box and needed no modification.

Is anyone else old enough to remember Safari Arms ? In the mid 1980's I built an IPSC .45 ACP based on a blue Colt Series 70. I don't think that blue was an option at that time, so I used a Safari Arms SS beavertail grip safety. I recently decided to try make the appearance of that pistol more uniform by going with a blue beavertail. I measured the radius as well as I could and decided to take a chance by ordering it since Brownell's return policy is so great (no questions asked / no hesitation). Well, it worked !! The only adjustment needed was to remove several thousandths from the bottom of the grip safety so that it didn't bind on the S&A Mainspring Housing / Magwell. IT IS PERFECT! Thank you Brownell's.

Perfect fit, following directions (15/03/2012)

Little by little I'm cutomizing my 25 year old Springfield N/M. The last project was to replace the grip safety and mainspring housing. It required the .220 modification to the frame. I worked slowly and followed "on line" directions. It turned out perfect and looks as good as my other factory "semi-custom" pistols.

Great product. extremely comfortable and my Wilson Combat Ultra Skeletonized hammer is the perfect match for this grip safety. Does require the S & A Installation jig if doing the work yourself (for installs on Springfield 1911-A1 GI Models).

Fit nicely to my Springfield 1911-A1. Make sure to get the Smith & Alexander .220 installation jig and the installation will go easy. I used a Dremel with a grinding bit to do most of the work, some light sanding to smooth it out, then applied some Perma Blue. Very happy with this product.

I have installed 3 of these with the S&A Jig. makes the shaping and installattion very easy. Minimum trial and error fitting for a great looking job.

Unfourtunalty there are not to many .220 radius grip safetys for us Springfield lovers. But with a little extra work you can file your own memory groves or checkering. The high ride with a custom blend fits perfect. Even tho choices are limmited at least this choice is well worth it.
